Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large pot
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces lo mein noodles
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 3 scallions thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add the lo mein noodles and cook according to package instructions. Reserve a quarter cup of the cooking water.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, tahini, sesame oil, chili oil, garlic, and ginger. Add the cooked noodles to the sauce mixture and toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon of the reserved cooking water at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  • Plate the noodles and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.

Notes

• Reserve some pasta water before draining the noodles in case the sauce needs thinning.
• Add the pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
• These noodles can be served warm, room temperature, or cold.
• Add chicken, steak, pork, or shrimp to make it a complete meal.
• Honey or brown sugar can be added if you prefer a sweeter sauce.
• Garnish with extra scallions and sesame seeds for additional flavor and texture.
