Sour cream chicken is an easy three-ingredient recipe that is kid-approved and packed with flavor. A simple sour cream, cheese, and spice mixture creates a rich, creamy topping for juicy baked chicken.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Add your chicken to a 9x13 casserole pan and season both sides with salt and pepper. Top the chicken with the sour cream mixture.
Bake for 20-30 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
Notes
For extra cheesy flavor, feel free to double the Parmesan or add another cheese like mozzarella. If adding cheese on top, wait until the end of baking to avoid burning.Full-fat sour cream is best for cooking, but light sour cream will work in a pinch. You can assemble the dish ahead of time and refrigerate it before baking. Add 5–10 minutes to the baking time if starting from cold.Frozen chicken breast is fine to use, but make sure it’s fully thawed first. Excess moisture from thawing can cause the sour cream topping to slide off.
