Equipment

  • 9-inch square baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Small pot
  • Large glass mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 3 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 2 1 oz packets hot chocolate mix
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows divided

Instructions

  • Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Create a large double boiler by filling a small pot with about 2 inches of water. Place a large glass mixing bowl over the top. Add the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter to the bowl. Turn the heat to medium-high and stir the mixture until the chocolate has melted. Mix in the hot cocoa mix and vanilla extract. Remove the mixing bowl from the heat and stir in 2 cups of mini marshmallows.
  • Transfer the fudge to the baking pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining marshmallows on top and gently press them into the fudge.
  • Place the fudge in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 hours, or until it is set.
  • Cut into 1-inch squares and enjoy.

Notes

  • The marshmallows stirred into the fudge should keep their shape—no need for them to melt. They’re meant to mimic marshmallows in hot cocoa.
  • You can swap or add toppings like crushed peppermint, pecans, walnuts, or even a fudge drizzle along with the mini marshmallows.
  • Grainy fudge is usually caused by overheating. Melt chocolate chips, butter, and sweetened condensed milk just until smooth, then remove from heat. Note: the hot cocoa mix adds slight texture naturally.
  • For clean cuts, wait until the fudge is fully cooled and set. Use a sharp, straight-blade knife, or run it under hot water, dry it, and slice immediately.
