Equipment

  • Crockpot
  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 36 ounces tortellini frozen
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces alfredo sauce
  • 3 cups baby spinach
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese shredded
  • ΒΌ cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Add your ground sausage to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Using a wooden spoon, break the sausage into bite-sized pieces and continue to cook until it has browned. Transfer the sausage to your crockpot.
  • Stir in the tortellini, marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, and spinach into the crockpot. Top the pasta mixture with mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover and set for 4 to 5 hours on low or 2 to 3 hours on high.
  • Stir the pasta and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • This dish can easily be made vegetarian by leaving out the meat.
  • Do not cook the tortellini before adding it to the crockpot. It will cook directly in the sauce, so it is important to use the full amount of sauce listed in the recipe.
  • You can add extra vegetables such as bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini if you want more than just spinach.
  • If adding extra meat, be sure to increase the amount of sauce to keep the texture and moisture balanced.
  • To add heat, use cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or substitute in a spicy sausage.
  • Avoid leaving the dish on warm for too long after cooking. The pasta will start to dry out, and the cheese can stick and harden around the edges of the crockpot.
